A leader in the provision of wireless telecom needs in Taiwan, Asia-Pacific Telecom Co., Ltd. was founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of Asia-Pacific Telecom Group, formerly Eastern Broadband Communications Co., Ltd. From 2007 through 2011, the parent company carried out internal mergers to match the firm’s corporate strategy. What resulted–Broadband Fixed Lines, Broadband Wireless, and Broadband Internet—enabled to the firm to move ahead in line with three core values—integration, innovation, and speed—toward greater operational efficiency and competitiveness. The company was officially renamed Asia-Pacific Telecom Co., Ltd. in 2007 and had its IPO in 2013.

In July 2014, Foxconn Technology Group’s Ambit Microsystems acquired a stake in Asia-Pacific (Ambit was fully absorbed into APT on December 31, 2015). In late 2014, APT launched 4G brand “Gt.”

Gt Intelligent Life is the APT brand identity under which it provides mobile, broadband, digital services, and hardware and software solutions. Gt, which stands for “Good Time,” brings consumers better value at a lower price. Solutions are offered under this brand for eight areas of customers’ lives.

The year 2016 was transformational for APT, as it forged ahead on three major fronts. Differentiating itself from traditional telecom firms, APT began to tap technology to provide intelligent living services. APT installed and began offering the use of LoRa, or low-power wide area networks, to increase connectivity for the Internet of Things. APT has made its LoRa network available to developers free of charge to explore how better to employ this exciting new technology. These efforts mark a milestone in the development of the Internet of Things in Taiwan. APT also worked with local governments across Taiwan to provide 4G Internet access on public buses and at public bus stops so as to help develop local economies. And, APT was among the first firms in Taiwan to import Pepper, the humanoid robot, to assist with product sales.

Asia-Pacific Telecom serves customers well by offering innovative rates, products, and services. In 2016, as in years past, it continued to strive to live up to its motto of offering better services at a lower price.

Honesty and trustworthiness are APT’s operating values, and are the foundation of sustainable operations. APT believes that its efforts at corporate social responsibility are a motivating factor encouraging its employees to go ever farther. Looking to the future, Asia-Pacific Telecom stands tall with head held high, ready to meet the challenges of the Internet of Things and 5th-generation mobile networks with a seasoned, forward-looking team.
